The majority of parcels are shipped in cardboard boxes, however heavier goods can often be shipped in wooden packing crates which are often just used one. Alternatively if you regularly ship the same goods between the same locations then you might consider using tailor made aluminium transport cases.

Packaging boxes now come in many different forms and sizes. Indeed boxes now come in so many different forms that they are now used for shipping anything from Pizzas to Milk in.

Where as once you could only buy a cardboard box in a few "Stock" sizes, and only in one color - Brown! Now you can get a cardboard box made in any size you want, and in any color you want. You can also now get your cardboard boxes made with special inserts to protect your goods.

Indeed if you have bought virtually anything in a cardboard box from a retail store in the past few years, you will have noticed the extensive use of white polystyrene foam in the packaging box to protect your goods.

In particular with the vast increase in the sale of high technology goods, many online packaging boxes now have to be designed to offer far more shock resistant protection than they used to have.

So you can see that the humble brown box has come along way in the past few years. Also now that cardboard can be printed on, businesses are using it to develop their brands and not just use them solely as packaging. Boxes can now be made in any color you want, and they can even be made to be waterproof. As an example cardboard is now widely used for coffee cups, which unlike plastic, is biodegradable.
